When setting up self-help groups, most legal questions are usually not relevant. Only when the group aims for the status of an association does it become necessary to deal with association law. Insurance coverage and tax considerations only come to the fore when the group is planning events or generating revenue. Group leaders and members can therefore gradually deal with most legal issues or are permanently unaffected by them. Data protection is the only thing that needs to be taken into account right from the start for all self-help groups and organizations.
